CHILDREN'S HOUSE
Children's House is a Montessori oriented day care center that provides a vital and loving atmosphere with educational activities for children between the ages of 2 and a half and 5.
The goal of early childhood education is to cultivate a child’s natural desire to learn. This is accomplished by encouraging children to experience the excitement of learning by his or her own choice and by helping them to reach their full potential. We achieve this in a peaceful, respectful and loving environment. The key to the implementation of this philosophy is keen observation in an environment truly prepared for the child. The center is open 250 days per year.
“We must support as much as possible the child's desire for activity; not wait on them, but educate them to be independent.” —Maria Montessori
SKYFISH SCHOOL
For more than 25 years, Skyfish School has offered an alternative to the public school format.
Our four-day a week program offers instruction in the traditional academic subjects with an innovative, child centered approach. Low student-teacher ratios and a strong and caring community of staff and parents ensure that each child will achieve success. Highlights of the program include thematic instruction, environmental education, conflict management skills training, cooperative learning situations, crossage tutoring, numerous field trips, and a nutritious organic vegetarian lunch program.
“No one has yet fully realized the wealth of sympathy, kindness, and generosity hidden in the soul of a child. The effort of every true education should be to unlock that treasure.” —Emma Golmam
